Last Friday, we had an amazing time on our day trip to El Escorial and El Valle de Cuelgamuros! Nestled in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains, El Escorial stands as the greatest architectural masterpiece of the Spanish Renaissance. Commissioned by King Philip II in 1563, this monumental site was built to honor Spain’s victory over the French at the Battle of St. Quentin, which took place on St. Lawrence’s feast dayJust a short drive away, El Valle de Cuelgamuros is home to one of the world’s largest memorial complexes, set in a breathtaking natural landscape. Built into the mountainside, it features a stunning basilica and an iconic 500-foot cross that dominates the skyline. A place of history, reflection, and architectural wonderA must-visit for history and architecture lovers!#StudyAbroad #InternationalEducation See MoreSee Less
